Iris Scissors are the most popular scissors we manufacture and are available in a number of different lengths and handle designs. They are ideal tissue scissors for cutting and wound debridement.

They come:
• Straight, curved, angled or curved sideways.
• In various lengths; 3.5”, 3.75”, 4” & 4.5”
• In various types; Standard Handle or ribbon Handle Stainless Steel, Tungsten Carbide and SuperCut.
• In various modifications; Knapp Iris, Bonn Miniature, Noyes, Barraquer, DeWecker, McClure, McPherson-Vannas, Micro, Iris Heavy Pattern & others.
• Some practitioners use them for suture scissors but we discourage this…use a Spencer Scissors as an alternative.

Normal stainless steel blades have a ledge that meets with the cutting surface as the opposing blades close upon each other in a shearing action. All scissors have an amount of free play when fully opened. A properly manufactured scissors will operate smoothly with no perceptible friction or tightness.

Tungsten Carbide scissors utilize a modern welding process to integrate a hardened cutting edge of tungsten carbide into the cutting surface. This provides for a sharper, longer lasting cutting edge. The carbide edge is more durable than stainless steel but should be treated with care, since the material is also more brittle due its higher carbon content. TC Scissors are identified by their gold plated handles.

SuperCut Scissors are the sharpest scissors available but also have the most delicate cutting surface. The upper blade is fashioned like a scalpel and effortlessly slices through tissue. The lower blade features micro-serrations that provide extra grip for delicate procedures. These scissors should only be sharpened by qualified instrument repair facilities. SuperCut Scissors are identified by their black ring handles.
